Dark Star 0.1.1 is here, bringing improvements to nearly aspect of the game!

Major Features

  • New Federation ship models:
    • Lumen Edge Interceptor - fast and deadly, designed to hunt down other starfighters.
    • Tandem Heavy Bomber - slow but tough, a powerful ship-killer.
    • Taswell Corvette - the fastest ship in the Federation fleet with powerful forward-facing cannons.
    • And their Rebel counterparts!
  • Improved player input:
    • Input mechanics have been fully redesigned for an easier & more intuitive experience.
    • Custom flight paths are more natural.
    • Middle click to pan.
  • Improved tactical views:
    • Icons now represent ship size (light, medium, heavy) & fighter type (interceptor, bomber, gunship).
    • Analysis view displays the selected ship's turret arcs.
    • New path view displays the paths of all neutral and allied entities.
  • New commands:
    • Focus Fire - order a ship's turrets to prioritise an enemy.
    • Defend - order a squadron to defend an ally.

Minor Features

  • Selecting a destination visualiser does not count as a double click - the camera will not focus.
  • AI flight paths are smoothed for more natural flight.
  • Starfighter flight improvements - they stay in formation better, don't overshoot their target, and follow the squadron's roll.
  • Squadron target visualisers are updated during battle.
  • Allied ships don't show their commands when selected.
  • Player ships remember the desired speed and apply it to auto-generated paths.
  • Significant cleanup & reorganisation of the codebase.
  • And 20 bug fixes!
